松山市に編入された野忽那諸島の一つ睦月島。ミカン畑が広がるのどかな島ですが、実は隠れた猫の島。自分も猫島とは知らずに上陸したレベル。そんなわけで、そこまで猫がいるというわけではありませんが、探せばいろいろ猫が出てきます。
また、猫を犬のようにつないで散歩している人がいたのが印象的でしたね。

猫密度 かあちゃんの店付近に多数 街中には少し出没
炭鉱の島として有名な池島。かつては7700人の人口を有しており、かなりの人口密度の島でした。現在はその２％足らず。廃墟の島、炭鉱見学の島として最近は脚光を浴びており、観光客はそれなりにいて、船も結構出ております。ただし、港までのアクセスは微妙です。
猫はかあちゃんの店付近で、餌付けされているので、そのあたりに多数おります。廃墟の町中を散歩していることも多いので、それなりに遭遇します。
廃墟と猫という不思議な景色の写真が撮れる、おすすめの島です。廃墟・炭鉱がウリの島で、猫はアピールされていないので、隠れた猫の島だと思います。

猫密度 低い
山口県にある祝島は周防灘と伊予灘の間にあり、漁業で栄えた島です。万葉集にも出てくる風光明媚な島で、練塀と呼ばれる塀があり、美しい街並みです。
しかしながら、最盛期に5000人を数えた人口はもう10分の1以下。ちょっと寂しいですね。
猫島として紹介されることもしばしばですが、猫自体はそれほど見かけませんでした。トータルで10匹超えたかどうかという感じです。

沖縄県南城市の沖にある久高島。沖縄版天孫降臨のある、神聖な島。島民にしか入れない場所とか、入ってはいけない場所とか、すごく神聖な感じがします。
猫たちは、町の中にウロチョロしている程度。猫島としてはあまり有名ではありませんが、近々の猫の増殖により、猫島として名が挙がってきましたが、神聖な島であることを忘れずに。

奧武島の基本情報

猫密度 橋の近くの公園付近、てんぷらや付近にまとまっている
沖縄には奧武島と呼ばれる島はいくつかありますが、猫の島は沖縄県南城市にある島です。沖縄本島から橋でつながっているので、離島という感じは全くしません。島は猫と天ぷらの島として有名なので、行ったことある人も多いでしょう。沖縄の猫は南下、やっぱりおおらかな感じですが、てんぷらを食べていると、やっぱりうじゃうじゃ寄ってきます。
飼い猫以外は、野良猫なので、エサはやらないようにと看板出ているので、地域猫としては扱われていないようです。

男木島（香川県）Ogijima (Kagawa Prefecture)
まずは男木島の基本情報

人口 150人くらい
交通 高松港からフェリーで40分
猫密度 港付近に多少いる感じ。全体的には高くはない。
高松市内からも簡単に行ける男木島は入門編にはちょうどいいかもしれません。猫島ではありませんがお隣の女木島も観光地ですし。ここ数年瀬戸内国際芸術祭等で盛り上がる瀬戸内海の香川県側。男木島も猫島というよりアートの島の方が有名かもしれませんね。猫は「さくら猫」という名で売り出そうとしておりますが、住民全体が賛成している感じではないです。そのため、若干野良猫化しており、警戒心の多い猫が多かったです。アートと猫、うまくいくといい写真が撮れそうですね。
あと余談ですが、茶トラ系の猫が多いです。

真鍋島（岡山県） (Okayama Prefecture)
真鍋島の基本情報

交通 住吉港（笠岡港）から高速船で45分、フェリーで70分
猫密度 港付近、公園付近に少々
笠岡列島で真鍋航路で最も遠い島である真鍋島。お隣は香川の猫島佐柳島。映画のロケ地とかにもなっており、、猫のほかにも観光志願がある真鍋島。人口も500人近くあり、結構栄えている印象です。猫たちは、非常に自由気ままに暮らしております。港付近2か所、公園付近、学校付近など出没地もいろいろ。大所帯でいることは少なく、ものすごく平和な感じでのんびりとしておりました。青島の圧倒的な猫密度には勝てませんが、目を凝らせばどこかに猫は出没します。野良猫ではなく、地域猫が多いのも特徴ですね。

There are a variety of habitats such as two near the port, near the park, near the school. I rarely stayed in a large area, and I was laid back with a very peaceful feeling. You can't beat Qingdao's overwhelming cat density, but if you look closely, the cat will appear somewhere. It is also a feature that there are many local cats, not stray cats.
